我們多數人認為自己是不喜歡風險的，但是，當我們以為自己有“安全的行為”時，卻存在比我們所認知到的更多的風險。這是因為，這樣的安全通常就含有長期的不確定性。你以為有可靠的工作、穩定的婚姻，或是以為貨幣幣值是穩定的，事實卻不盡然如此。
真實的現象是環境本身很少會持久不變。最“安全”的黃金也會貶值。你可能會失去你可靠的工作。然而，我們卻以認為一切都會沒事的態度而忽略可能出現的風險。
雖然沒有人可以真正準確預測到風險會如何發生？何時發生？然而，你還是可以做一些防範。
在你做任何決定前，將所有可能發生的現象都做過調查與評估。你可以去請教專家的意見。而且，不要忘了也評估若是你不採取任何行動而可能出現的風險。
有的時候，維持現況確實比願意承擔風險，採取行動，還要危險。
