Communicate with "3"
It's an old trick to persuade others. The trick is to break up any important information into three key packages, so that people are impressed and remember.
This is because most people can only remember three things, and most of the three parts are enough to describe the main content of an important message.
Next time you want to deliver an important message, break it down into three parts. For example, you can say, "To restore our past glory, we have three important tasks to do." More concise explanation: "We have the best products on the market. We are the best team. However, our performance has not met the target.

Strengthen your network
It's not enough to build your network. You have to maintain it. This means that you have to keep in touch with your passion, ideas and resources, so good quality people will come to contact you frequently.
Here's how to maintain your network:
  1. Devote yourself to every interaction. Raise your interest and ask your questions. People will notice your presence and activities, and then they will respond to you with their opinions.
  2. Keep your promise. If you do what you say, people will interact more with you. If you say you'll send out a document or introduce someone, do it.
  3. Seek feedback. If you are passionate about doing something, let your friends and colleagues know, ask them to participate or give advice. Your sharing and requesting feedback can stimulate their enthusiasm and give you more ideas than you ever thought.

How to refuse a request for recommendation?
It's an honor to receive a recommendation from someone else. It's also a good opportunity to establish a personal relationship. However, if you do not approve of the requester yourself, you should be cautious so as not to damage your personal knowledge.
So, how do you respond?
  1. Be honest. Instead of avoiding and causing subsequent misunderstandings, tell him in good faith why you can't recommend him. You can tell him that maybe his abilities are not enough, or his timing is not ripe, or that the referral arrangements he asks for do not achieve his goals.
  2. Provide another choice. If feasible, provide the referral requester with another choice and give appropriate advice on how he can get such a new choice.
  3. Keep in touch. If you really want to help him in the future, you can tell him. Open your door, and he will continue to respect and appreciate your kindness.

How to get the support of the boss?
If you have a great idea, but your boss may not agree, don't ask for it. At least don't do it in the first place.
But you can do this:
  1. Do some preparatory exercises. Before you ask for approval, do some preparation with the tools or resources at hand. These preparations should be easy to make and help you get a better exposure to your ideas.
  2. Let your boss know. Give him the opportunity to know that you are preparing for some new developments and then attract his attention.
  3. Make some small demands. When you need resources to push your ideas forward, ask your boss for a few small requests in the range of losses he can afford. Then, you do something that really proves to be effective, and you end up putting all your chips on the table.
